Fall is the great time to raise your consciousness on the topic
of "Judgment".  The weather is warm, the days are brighter and
just maybe your Ego can come out of the water and be open
enough to show it's sweet under-belly!

On the subject of "Judgment"........

The Ego loves to judge and evaluate.  It’s extremely good at
this.  Perhaps good to a fault.  In a sense judgment is like an
internal alarm sensor.  While at times this thought process may
be necessary, perhaps even lifesaving, most of the time
judgment just gets in the way of happiness and diminishes our
ability to connect with others.  A strong Ego is always on guard,
ready to judge, particularly when it comes to other peoples looks
and behaviors that are different than our own.

Freud called this behavior “projection”, a defense mechanism of
the ego to protect or minimize our own emotional pain in a given
situation.  In simple terms, the judgment we place on others is
often a projection of our own fears, prejudices and insecurities.
Because it would be painful to admit these to ourselves, we
project our perceptions onto other people, often unaware that
we are doing it.

So in truth, those we judge are really reflections of ourselves or
more accurately, they represent specific qualities of ourselves
that, in a candid moment, we would have to admit are none too
flattering.  Passing judgment on others is a common stress-
prone behavior.  It’s an area in which we could all use a little
reminder to drop the gavel and relax.
